  • It delves into the evolution of criminological thought and the relationship between Criminology and other criminal and behavioral sciences.
  • Specialise in different types of crime (economic, organised, terrorist, gender, technological, juvenile and minor crime) and in related disciplines such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, statistics or biology.
  • Take part in the Telders International Law Moot Court Competition, a competition held every year at the Court of Appeals in The Hague. You will put your skills in international law to the test in areas such as creativity and persuasiveness.

A 360º profile that combines Law and Criminology to work in all phases of crime

With the double degree you will gain in-depth knowledge of crime prevention, the development of citizen security strategies , the analysis, study and investigation of the crime if it occurs, the arrest process or the stages of prosecution, processing, hearing and accusation. You will also learn about strategies for the reintegration of the perpetrator and support for the victim.

If you have professional experience, validate your internship by accrediting 4 and a half months in tasks inherent to the master's subjects in a marketing company.

Learn with real cases taught by lawyers and criminologists

In the field of law, we have the collaboration of several prestigious law firms so that you can train with the best. You will learn through real practical cases taught by lawyers and partners of Gómez-Acebo & Pombo , who will guide you to propose innovative solutions.

In the field of Criminology, you will have the opportunity to practice with real cases such as that of Rocío Wanninkhof, the Bretón Case or the Pioz crime . Together with experts, you will solve cases, create criminal profiles and analyze expert or criminalistic evidence.

Contribute to society with the UFIS Legal Clinic

As a student of the Faculty of Law, you will have access to the Legal Clinic. You will resolve legal and active cases pro bono, providing legal solutions to social entities and the 59 NGOs that make up the Network for the Fight against Poverty (EAPN Madrid). You will be able to obtain a Degree in Expertise in Legal Clinical Methodology.

Access seminars and open classes for further study

As a student of the Double Degree in Law and Criminology, you will have access to sessions taught by prestigious specialists who, at no cost, will allow you to expand your knowledge.

In the field of Law, we can highlight the Cycle on Basic Legal Skills, in which you will be able to delve deeper into those competencies and skills necessary both in your academic career and in your professional life, or the Seminar on the Protection of Vulnerable Groups.

In terms of Criminology, you will gain further insight with the Criminal Profiling and Victimology Seminar , taught by Juan Enrique Soto, PhD in Psychology and Chief Inspector of the National Police, and by Agustina Vinagre, a clinical psychologist specialising in security and police intervention in companies. You will also gain further insight with the Missing Persons Seminar , led by José Carlos Beltrán, a specialist in Forensic Science. Both are optional and are equivalent to 2 ECTS credits.

Increase your chances of finding a job: career opportunities in Law and Criminology

By combining both branches of knowledge, you will be qualified to perform a profession or trade related to Law , acquire the status of jurist and specialize in the manifestations of criminality , insecurity, crime and its causes.

In the double degree you will be trained to manage offices, work in the Administration of Justice, Treasury , Criminological Consulting, in the field of the State Security Forces and Corps and/or Armed Forces or develop yourself as a criminological analyst and advisor , among others.

Admission requirements for the Double Degree in Criminology and Law

You can access official university degree courses through any of the following access routes:

  • Official university degree, Baccalaureate/COU, Selectividad, PAU or EBAU.
  • Higher Vocational Training Title.
  • Tests for those over 25 or 45 years of age or accreditation of experience (over 40 years of age).
  • Foreign studies approved in Spain.
